Developing a Knowledge Based System for Progressive Die Design

The design of sheet metal dies for complex jobs is always a problem because of the principles involved. There is more to the practice rather than the hard engineering knowledge. An attempt has been made here to get the knowledge of the designers into the designing process as a set of rules, so that the system would be able to automatically make the necessary decisions and arrive at the optimum design. The system would also be able to give the requisite design details for successful production of the die.
