LEED studies of several structural models of the Si{1 0 0} surface

Abstract Dynamical LEED calculations are performed for the Poppendieck c (4 × 2) and the Chadi (2 × 1), c (2 × 2), p (2 × 2) and c (4 × 2) structures. All the non-(2 × 1) structures give forbidden beams that are far too intense, and comparison with experiment shows that none of the structures individually, nor any combination of the Chadi structures, can represent the Si{100} surface.
