This study aimed to describe the profile of workers with permanent sequelae after Work Accident (WA), registered in the service of Professional Rehabilitation Program (PRP) of the National Institute of Social Security (NISS) in Campinas (SP), and checking the causes to the reinsertion or not in the labor market. Study population consisted of all workers of PRP, in the period from 2007 to 2012. Data were collected through a survey of information contained in records and the descriptive statistics were analyzed. Study population consisted of 40 subjects, 37 males. The workers most affected were aged 18–29 years and had lower education. The typical accident was the cause of 30 events, including 20% of these occurrences with deviation function in the job and 10 accidents on the way. The most workers have been working in the production of industrial goods and services (60%). Among the participants in the PRP, 26 workers have been active in the labor market. The results showed that the goal of reintegration program was partially achieved in this study population. The current program is focusing on criteria of functionality by providing prosthesis. There is not a multidisciplinary team for adequate monitoring and psychosocial support for the workers.
