The result of a reliable and of quality laboratory procedure depends on the preparation of the animal, collection of the material, handle and storagethe sample collected. Factors such as hemolysis, fear, excitement, lipemia, inadequate stock, delay on the sample processing and the lack of information of the clinical signs and the drugs used in the patient may interfere in the diagnostic and treatment of several pathologies. This essay aims to make a bibliography review about the cares that must be taken when collecting and sending samples for complementary exams to the clinic pathology laboratory.
