ELASTÓMEROS DE POLIURETANO A PARTIR DE ACEITE DE HIGUERILLA Y ALMIDÓN DE YUCA MODIFICADO QUÍMICAMENTE: SÍNTESIS Y PROPIEDADES FISICOQUÍMICAS, FISICOMECÁNICAS Y TÉRMICAS

2009
Polyurethane elastomers (PU) were prepared using suspensions of the mixture obtained from castor oil and yucca starch that was modified by a propionic anhydride reaction (AMP). The content of AMP in the castor oil-AMP suspensions was of 0, 3, 5 and 10% according to the relation: AMP mass/volume of suspension. The castor oil-AMP suspensions were denominated S0, S3, S5 and S10. The suspensions were characterized by means of tests based on The Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Specific Gravity, Viscosity and the Hydroxyl Index. For the obtained PU that were denominated PU0, PU3, PU5 and PU10 a molar relation was defined between the diisocyanate group and hydroxyl group (NCO/OH=1). The PU were characterized by their physical-mechanical properties, as well as by the thermal properties and the physical-chemical properties. The modification of the yucca starch structure was analyzed on the interface adhesion between the AMP and the PU matrix.
