VAGAL NERVE STIMULATION INDUCED SUPPRESSION OF VENTRICULAR FIBRILLATION IN RABBITS

1987
Effect of vagal stimulation on the shortening or suppression of ventricularfibrillation (VF) induced by single extrasystolic stimulation in acute ischemicmyocardium in rabbits was observed. This shortening effect of vagal stimulationon the VF was not affected by simultancous administration of β-adrenergic receptorblocker propranolol. This experiment suggests that enhancement of vagal tonemay play a beneficial effect in the termination of VF.
