Production and decay of the K∗o (890) and N∗−(1236) resonances in K−d collisions at 3.0 GeV/c

1970
Abstract In a K − d experiment at 3 GeV/ c the final state K − n π + π − (p S ) has been investigated. We find that the quasi-two-body reaction K − n → K ∗ N ∗ has a cross section of (0.93 ± 0.07) mb and accounts for about 53% of the final state. Production and decay angular distributions for both resonances, as well as single and joint spin density matrix elements have been studied. The results are compared with the absorption model predictions, under the assumption of pion exchange and also with various quark model predictions.
