Minimally Invasive Ross Procedure

2018
Abstract The choice of implanting an aortic valve prosthesis in young adults has a significant impact on patient's lives. The challenge for the cardiac surgeon is not only to provide the efficacy, safety, and good clinical outcomes of a conventional Ross procedure but to conduct in a minimally invasive approach. Its goals include reducing incision size, decreasing surgical pain, trauma, and postoperative discomfort. Since the first report in our institution in 2008, the minimally invasive Ross procedure has become a valid alternative to conventional median sternotomy. The minimally invasive approach allows for the same excellent clinical outcomes but with a better quality of life.
