Organization of Cyanine Dye in the Gelatin Matrix in the Presence and Absence of Liquid Crystals

AbstractThe orgmlization of cyanine dye as dimer and H- alld I-aggregates ill cold-dried gelatill film call be assiglud to the moleclliar mass distributioll of the gelatill. III films of highmolecular mass gelatin ollly dimers are formed. III the case of low-molecular mass gelatill formation of I-aggregates is observed.If liquid crystals are embedded ill the gelatin film, together with cyanirre dye, the orgarrizatiorr of ti,e cyalline dye is challged by the liquid crystals. Also the I-aggregates are modified resultillg in a bathochromic absorption shift.
