Polymorphism analysis of exon1 of bone morphogenetic protein 15 gene in Gansu mordern meat sheep new breeds population.

The BMP15 gene was studied as a candidate gene for the high prolificacy of sheep.A pair of primers was designed by sequence of exon1 of BMP15 gene published in genebank.Single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) of exon1 of BMP15 gene were detected in new breed population sheep and low prolificacy breeds Dorset sheep by polymerase chain reaction(PCR)-single strand conformation polymorphism(SSCP).Polymorphism was detected in the amplified region in the new breed population sheep tested and no polymorphism was detected in low prolificacy breeds Dorset sheep.Three genotype(AA,BB and AB) population were detected in new breed population sheep.The results indicated that the sequence of exon1 of BMP15 gene was polymorphism,and the difference of LSM for lambing numbers among AA,BB and AB was non-significant(P0.05).So exon1 of BMP15 gene may not be the functional domain that effects the prolificacy in new breed population sheep.
