Design and analysis of optimum baffle for a Cassegrain telescope

2016
Optimum baffle parameters to shield the direct rays of stray light are arrived at for a Cassegrain telescope using the iterative method. Further, we have proposed here a design procedure that improves the performance of an optimum baffle arrived at in view of finite reflective nature of the practical blackened-baffle structure. The modeling and performance evaluation of the designed baffle are demonstrated on a realistic numerical Cassegrain telescope using ZEMAX® optical design software. The effectiveness of this method is more perceivable on a wide field of view, large aperture, long focal length Ritchey–Chretien telescope of high resolution earth observation satellites.
