DRIVING REDUCTION/CESSATION AMONG OLDER DRIVERS: TOWARD A BEHAVIOURAL FRAMEWORK. IN: TRAVEL BEHAVIOUR RESEARCH. THE LEADING EDGE

2001
This paper examines older driver decisions related to reducing and stopping driving within a framework of behavior change. Steps are taken toward adopting a theoretical behavior change model to the older driver reduction and cessation process by testing a critical assumption about the process. The assumption is that the anticipation of driving ability problems is an essential factor in the driving reduction and cessation process. The goal is to increase understanding of this process and to begin developing a behavioral framework that should be useful in designing and planning programs, options and services to preserve and extend the mobility of older persons.
