Shoulder Arthroscopy: Struggles and Successes
2003
There were many struggles for the early pioneers of shoulder arthroscopy [27]; however, with time, perseverance and experience, they also enjoyed many successes. The purpose of this chapter is to review the continuing development of arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder so that we might avoid what George Bernard Shaw said: “We learn from history that we learn nothing from history”. We should learn from the history of shoulder arthroscopy, its struggles and its successes.
