An infrared polarizing microscope for observation of domains in thick samples of magnetic oxides

Constructional details of a simple infrared polarizing microscope are given. The microscope enables the observation of domain structures and of crystal imperfections to be made in ferrimagnetic garnet specimens up to 5 mm thick.
