Parallel computer system for 3-D numerical simulation of ground motion

2004
3-D numerical simulation of ground motion depends on parallel computer system. In this paper, a parallel computing cluster (Beowulf system) with 10 PCs is introduced. Every PC runs Windows 2000 operation system. The parallel computer system is controlled and supported by MPICH1.2.4 implementation of MPI.A high speed 100M bps ethernet interconnects all PCs. The performance of the system is tested using a parallel computer program. Results show that this Beowulf system could run with high speedup ratio and parallel efficiency. The Beowulf system could be used to 3-D numerical simulation of ground motion.
