NORGEOSPEC, A PROPOSED SYSTEM FOR SPECIFICATION AND CONTROL OF GEOTEXTILES FOR SEPARATION AND FILTRATION IN ROADS IN THE NORDIC COUNTRIES

A new Nordic system for specification and quality control of geotextiles for separation and filtration in roads, NorGeoSpec, is being developed by VTT Building and Transport in Finland and SINTEF Civil and Environmental Engineering in Norway. The development is done in co-operation with the road authorities in Sweden, Finland and Norway. With a common system, the Nordic countries will form a common market place which eventually will result in development of geotextiles adapted to the climate and soil conditions in these countries. The first draft of the system has been prepared. The system includes five specification profiles based on seven different physical, mechanical and hydraulic characteristics. All requirements are based on characteristics and test methods prepared by CEN and ISO. For the covering abstract see ITRD E117244.
