PSPI Migration on Many-core and Multi-core Platforms

In the past a few years, the performance and capabilities of the many-core and multicore (MCMC) platforms have evolved rapidly. Not only has the hardware been matured faster than the Moore’s law, but also the Application Programming Interface (API) and development environment have grown significantly. In this work, we implement the 2D Phase Shift Plus Interpolation (PSPI) Migration algorithm in the frequency-wave number domain, on various MCMC platforms. We analyze the frequency domain PSPI migration algorithm and discuss the performance gain for that algorithm on these platforms. Our primary motivation for the research is to accelerate the implementation of algorithms, which are widely used in geophysical applications in oil and gas industries.
