The clinical efficacy of distalizing upper molars in class II malocclusion with micro-implant anchorage

2010
Objective To study the clinical efficacy of distalizing upper molars in class II malocclusion with micro-implant anchorage. Methods Seven female and one male patients of clas Ⅱ malocclusion were selected for distalizing upper molars with micro-implant anchorage.Straight-wire appliance was used for the study. The patients were aged 18-28.The micro-implant anchorage was embedded in buccal alveolar bone between the maxillary second premolar and the maxillary first molar, and the strength was 200-250 g.The duration for distalization of upper molars was 3-6 months. Results The upper molar was distalized by 4.1 mm and the adduction of the Incisor was 3 mm averagely. All the patients owned normal occlusion and got improved look when the distalization was ended. Conclusion The study showed that the microimplant placed in the maxillary bone provided absolute anchorage for distalization of maxillary molar.
