MAC protocol for wireless sensor networks based on spanning tree

2008
Simple analysis is made in MAC for wireless sensor networks.Taking account of the drawbacks in energy efficient and latency of the existing MAC protocols,a MAC protocol based on a spanning tree(ST-MAC)is proposed. With sink node as root node,a spanning tree of all the nodes in the networks is created.ST-MAC adopts TDMA,whose inherent low duty cycle improves the performance of the networks. The performance analyses and experimental results show that ST-MAC is better than S-MAC in terms of both energy efficient and latency.
