Unemployment impedes resettlement

A hospital which specialises in psychiatric rehabilitation placed 462 patients in open employment in the ten years 1964–73. The number of placements varied considerably from year to year and to a smaller extent from one season to another. Analysis showed that this variation was significantly associated with the number of jobs available in the locality and the number of other unemployed people competing for them.
