The invention belongs to the technical fields of novel one-dimensional magnetic materials and novel microwave absorption materials, in particular to a superfine nickel fiber and a preparation method thereof. The diameter of the nickel fiber is between 100 and 600nm, and the length is between 10 and 100 mu m. Inorganic and organic nickel salt and hydrazine hydrate react in an alcohol solvent at the temperature of between 45 and 90 DEG C for 10 to 120 minutes under the alkaline condition, and the superfine nickel fiber is obtained through separation and purification after temperature reduction. The pure superfine fibrous nickel with uniform appearance and large length-diameter ratio can be prepared without introducing templates or introducing externally applied magnetic field to the reaction system. The method for preparing the superfine nickel fiber has the advantages of low cost of the used raw materials, safety, simple process, short period, mild preparation condition, low production cost, high yield, and suitability for scale production.
