The design project and its assessment at the University of Auckland

2004
The Design Project at the University of Auckland requires the students to undertake significant research in the selection of the process as well as using literature data for the design of the actual process itself. The topics assigned are such that they are related to New Zealand industries. The award of the final grade is based on both individual and group work. Students also contribute towards the assessment by making individual submissions on the performance of themselves as well as fellow group members. Practising engineers from the local industry participate in the teaching by being available on a regular basis for consultation. A series of plant visits form part of the course to he lp students to relate their design to real industrial situations.
