An image display device and an image display method thereof are provided to supply a convenient environment to a user by gradating OSD(On Screen Display) of EPG. A controller parses EPG information from a broadcasting signal received from an EPG manager(S101), and sets up an algorithm for OSD generation to output EPG information in OSD(S103). The controller discriminates a test part from a background part based on the EPG information, and divides and sets up the background part into plural parts(S105). An OSD controller determines a brightness value, an opaqueness value and a color value for the background part of the EPG(S107). The OSD controller sets up the color value designated to the corresponding part to store a virtual OSD at an inner buffer(S109).
