Functional Safety Design for Torque Control of a Pure Electric Vehicle

2021
Unintended torque increase/decrease due to hardware malfunction of the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) is one of the major torque security problems that need to be addressed by appropriate software design. In order to ensure that the vehicle maintains in safe and reliable condition when running into unintended torque increase, we firstly investigate the elements of danger and risk through Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) approach, and then establishes and validates a torque security control strategy using Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow toolset. Simulation results show that the developed torque-security control software fulfills the functional safety requirement of torque control.
