Enhancement of a static electric or an oscillating electromagnetic field close to a metallic tip is known since a very long time. Recently in the framework of SNOM (scanning near-field optical microscopy) and exalted fluorescence, several theoretical and experimental studies have been undertaken concerning enhancement of the electromagnetic field close to atomic force microscope (AFM) tips [1–4] and enhancement of two-photon excitation and fluorescence in the vicinity of metallic nanoparticles [5].
