Effect of periodic kicking on Chern insulators

The $\ensuremath{\delta}$-function periodic kicking on the Qi-Wu-Zhang (QWZ) Chern insulator has been studied and the topological properties of the system have been discussed in this paper. We find that, under the periodic kicking, the topological properties will be changed and a rich phase diagram will be obtained by manipulating the control parameters. The long-range hopping between the sites can be obtained, which induces the occurrence of large Chern numbers in topological insulators. It is an extended study of periodic controlling on topological quantum systems that large Chern numbers can be obtained.
