Expression and significance of survivin and VEGF in hepatocellular carcinoma and significance

2009
Objective To discuss the expression of survivin and VEGF in hepatocellular carcinoma and their relationship and their clinical significance. Methods The expression of survivin and VEGF in hepatocellular carcinoma were studied by immunohistochemical technique with their relation to follow-up data, analyzed their detect outcome with clinical pathologic character. Results The 32 of 50 hepatocellular carcinoma specimens(64.0%) were positive for survivin,The 34 of 50 hepatocellular carcinoma specimens(68.0%) were positive for VEGF.The expression of survivin were not found in normal hepatic tissue;the 2 of 20 hepatocellular carcinoma specimens(10%) were positive for VEGF.The expression of survivin and VEGF are significant difference between hepatocellular carcinoma and normal hepatic tissue.Their expression was related to clinical stage and lymph node metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma patients(P0.05).There was a close correlation between the expression of survivin and VEGF in hepatocellular carcinoma, proved by the correlation test(r=0.886,P0.05).Conclusions survivin and VEGF are over-expressed in HCC tissues, and provide a theoretical basis for application of molecular targeted drugs.survivin expression combinated with VEGF expression maybe have synergistic effect to HCC progression.Determin the expression of survivin and VEGF in HCC tissues can help the prognosis with judgement patients and guide treatment.
