Monitoring of Machining Processes and Machining Systems

2001
Since the introduction of the NC machine tools, development of machining systems is characterised with tendency to build machining systems with higher degree of automation, flexibility and integration. Such requests could not be realized without significant advances in understanding and controlling of the machining processes and peripheral equipment. The lack of exact phisical models of machining processes and systems emphasised the importance of monitoring and diagnostic tasks, whose role is continuously increasing. Monitoring and diagnostic in the next generation manufacturing systems (Advanced manufacturing systems, Intelligent manufacturing systems, Biological manufacturing systems) will be widely used as a tool for making such systems more authonomus, efficient and reliable.
