A method for controlling a belt tightener and the safety arrangement with a pretensioner

The present invention relates to a method for controlling a reversible belt pretensioner (10) in a motor vehicle (2) with the method step of activating the belt pretensioner (10) so that a safety belt (6) from a normal position is brought into a second position in which the seat (6) is stronger than in the normal position streamlined, wherein activating the belt pretensioner (10) is independent of a hazardous situation. The present invention further relates to a safety arrangement (4) for carrying out the inventive method.
