Synthesis of 2R, 4′R, 8′R‐α‐tocopherols selectively labelled with deuterium

Nine deuterium-labelled α-tocopherols having the natural, 2R,4′R,8′R, stereochemistry have been synthesized for study by 2H NMR of the orientation and dynamics of natural α-tocopherol in a phospholipid bilayer.
