Analysis of Aerodynamic Characteristics of the Vectored Thrust Ducted Propeller with Sectors

A geometric model for the vectored thrust ducted propeller with sectors (VTDP) system was developed in this paper. Then based on FLUENT and momentum-source method, the flow field and aerodynamic characteristics of the model was analyzed. For the deflection components of the system in the state of different deflection combination, the impact of the aerodynamic characteristics was investigated. Calculation results show that sectors can convert partial thrust force to yawing force and improve the thrust force produced by propeller. However, a large deflection angle of sectors made the drag force increases faster.
