Global Mobility and Migration in the Cities of the Patagonian Andes: Emerging Diversity

Some Patagonian cities have a great attractiveness to national and, particularly, international migrants. The growing diversity of origins is a singular aspect related with their location in the Patagonian Andes, a privileged environment of snowy mountains, forests, rivers and lakes. This foreign population has contributed to the building of a heterogeneous demographic, social and cultural structure. The coexistence of diverse regimes of mobility have transformed the human landscape of these cities. It appears social fields of differential power, particularly, between international migrants, lifestyle migrants and labour migrants in a context of the global mobilities.
