Improved synthesis of arbutin

OBJECTIVE To improve the synthetic procedure of arbutin.METHOD Using pentaacetyl-β-D-glucose and hydroquinone as primary material,arbutin was synthesized through protection,condensation and deprotection.RESULT and CONCLUSION The overall yield was 40.8%.This processs has advantages of mild reaction conditions,convenient work-up,and is suitable for industrial production.
