in other venues. But it is the interaction of the class members that is so exciting. In the normal run of a graduate research seminar it is rare that a class ethos is formed. It is something that we strive for pedagogically all the time. One of the transformative aspects of imagining the oral history process in this manner is that each member of the class begins to understand every other member of the class and they come to find each other genuinely interesting. It is a way of bringing the excitement of fieldwork into the classroom.
