PUEBLOS DEL ESTE. Develar lo invisible desde la Integralidad

2019
This article reflects on the work of research and teaching developed by the Institute of Theory and Urbanism of Architecture University, Design and Urbanism (FADU-ITU), from February 2013 to December 2016. Based on the work results from Maldonado's City Council, who identified certain weaknesses and postponements in small towns of the Department of Maldonado, those who did not participate in the prosperity produced by the intense coastal tourist activity. Consequently, the team set out to explore these locations in order to visualize their strengths and singularities, as well as identify guidelines and ordering tools that could cooperate to reverse inequality socio-territorial situations. Subsequently, some localities of Rocha and Lavalleja were added to the original project with similar problems, with the aim of exploring common situations in the eastern region of Uruguay. The case studies were approached with the passing of the optional course of degree "Invisible Towns".
