Determination of atmospheric lead pollution of automotive origin

Abstract The lead concentration in air in different areas of the city of Buenos Aires and surroundings has been determined using the PIXE method with a heavy ion beam from a Tandem accelerator. Some of the values found significantly exceed the limits permitted by government regulations.
