Clinical research of morphine combined with oxycodone in postoperative pain management

Background Opioids are widely used for relief of moderate or severe acute and chronic pain. However, their utility is often limited by excessive adverse effects. New modality aimed to reduce adverse effects and improve analgesia are therefore required. Objective Summarizing the efficacy and safety of morphine plus oxycodone in the treatment of postoperative pain and providing evidence for its clinical application and further studies. Content The combination of morphine and oxycodone may result in enhanced analgesia and fewer adverse events in the management of postoperative pain. Trend Although the co-administration of morphine and oxycodone has been proved to possess many advantages in pain management, the best regimen still needs further clinical studies.
