The recoil shadow anisotropy method

2000
The present work reports on a new method for identifying isomers in the nanosecond range and measuring their half-lives. The Recoil Shadow Anisotropy Method (RSAM) can be applied to experiments using thin targets and gamma multidetector arrays including collimated composite detectors. Lifetime measurements can thus be performed at the same time as standard spectroscopic measurements, without any additional device. This method was first developed for data obtained with Eurogam-II and a number of isomers with half-lives between 0.5 and 18 ns have been measured so far.
