SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF SILICON IN URANIUM COMPOUNDS

On the basis of the colorimetric determination of silicon by the yellow silicomolybdic acid formation or by its reduction to molybdenum blue, three methods for the determination of the silicon in uranium are proposed. Silicon was determined in the solution employing the above methods after extraction of the uranyl nitrate by TBP. Finally a direct uranium determination was carried out using ammonium molybdate, dissolving the precipitated uranyl molybdate with tartaric acid and reducing the molybdate to molybdenum blue. (auth)
