PALINOMORFOS EN LAS ROCAS DE LA FORMACIÓN SAN CAYETANO, PINAR DEL RÍO, CUBA Palinomorphes in rocks of San Cayetano Formation, Pinar del Río, Cuba

2003
These samples yielded abundant organic matter and palynomorphs of Jurassic ( probably Middle Jurassic) age deposited under Inner Neritic and Continental conditions. The preservations and colors of these palynomorphs clearly indicate that these strata had not undergone high thermal alteration. These samples were also analyzed by Geochemical methods and results confirm that the San Cayetano Formation can be considered as hydrocarbon source rock. It is important to point out, that some of the recovered palynomorphs correspond with species not yet described in the bibliography.
