A LUKEWARM EMBRACE : PUBLIC SECTOR STILL NEEDS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF TECHNOLOGY

Reluctance to adopt new technology is common among transportation officials, and especially among mid-level managers and engineers who are more focused on the operational aspects of their jobs. Thus, a top-down push for new technology is important. Department of Transportation secretaries, commissioners and directors are the ones who need to encourage the adoption of new technology.
