INPATIENT DERMATOLOGY: A Prescription For Survival

Although dermatologists continue to provide consultative services for hospitalized patients, many academic dermatology centers across the United States no longer provide primary hospital care. This radical change will prevent many future generations of dermatologists from being trained in the care of hospitalized patients, thus limiting their capacity to provide comprehensive dermatologic care. This article focuses on the causes and consequences of the current situation and suggests solutions.
