Regulation of the hydraulic units of the Nurek hydroelectric station without surge shafts in the headrace tunnels

1971
For hydroelectric stations having long conduits it is especially important to thoroughly examine the problems related with the possibility of eliminating surge tanks or idle discharges. The problems include: the role of the station in regulating the active power in the power system, the selection of the main features for calculating unsteady regimes, and the selection of the generator flywheel masses and permissible value of temporary unsteady running of the unit.
