IMPROVEMENT OF THE AFFLUX TO PROPELLERS AT THE REAR OF BROAD COMPACT (AFTER-BODY) SHIPS. 2 INTERIM REPORT ON THE RESEARCH PROJECT FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 1985 TO DECEMBER 31, 1985.
1986
After-end of ship's flow with very different flow trends and different directions of flow was examined. It was found to vary greatly with distance from the hull. Because of the many possible influences on the aft-end flow, it was possible to assign the flow phenomena to three-dimensional cavitation, only to a limited extent. It was shown that a U-spar characteristic and great fullness, and a large B/T ratio favor the flow rotation and formation of eddies before the propeller.
