Study on the Influence Factors of Spectrum for the early Breast Tumor Detection

2013
Ultra-Wideband (UWB) microwave imaging is investigated as a promising method for the early-stage breast cancer detection based on the large contrast of electric parameters between the tumor and the normal breast tissue. The planer two-dimensional breast model is used to simulate the microwave propagation by the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method in the breast. In this paper, the relationship between the frequency spectrum and the permittivity is studied. The spectrum peaks of tumor change obviously with the increase of the tumor relative permittivity. Meanwhile, the size of tumor has effect on the frequency spectrum amplitude. Results show the frequency spectrum amplitude of the tumors enhance with the increase of the size at the low frequency.
