Physiological Characteristics of Three Elymus Grass under NaCl Stress

2010
The salt tolerance of the Elymus dahuricus Turcz.and Elymus sibiricus L.,especially the Elymus canadensis L.,are not well reported. The current study reports physiology indexes of three forages under salt stress. All seedlings were treated with different viscosities of the NaCl solution. The relative water contents(RWC),electrical conductivity, the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD),the content of malondialdehyde(MDA) and free proline were tested after 7 days of treatment. Results show both RWC and the activity of SOD were decreased while electrical conductivity and the content of MDA were increased.Free praline values were initially increased then decreased over the duration.
