Structure and Properties of Surface Layers of Sintered Powder Titanium VT1-0 After Laser Treatment

The effect of various modes of laser treatment of sintered powder titanium VT1-0 in an argon environment on the structure and properties of its surface is studied. It is shown that laser fusion of the surface reduces markedly the porosity in the fusion zone. One of the causes of elevation of the microhardness in the surface layers is growth in the total length of grain boundaries.
