Continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion and neuropathy in older people.

2020
: We were interested by the recent article by Grammes et al. [1], who reported on the increasing use of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) among older people with type 1 diabetes in the German/Austrian diabetes registry, the DPV, and the good results obtained: lower HbA1c , less severe hypoglycaemia and keto-acidosis, and less time spent in hospital. Two unfavourable findings, however, emerged for older pump users: almost twice the rates of depression and also higher rates of diabetic neuropathy, which were not commented on by the authors.
