Study on awareness status of tuberculosis prevention and cure knowledge among nursing interns

Objective To understand the awareness status of tuberculosis (TB) prevention and cure knowledge among nursing interns,in order to provide a scientific basis for setting clinical nursing course.Methods A total of 138 nursing interns who practiced in Guangzhou Chest Disease Hospital from Jun.2010 to Mar.2012 were interviewed by questionnaires and analyzed with their awareness status of TB knowledge.Results 76.8％ of nursing interns obtained relevant knowledge of TB from school education.86.23％ students knew TB is an infectious disease and 53.62％ nursing interns knew about the TB transmission.At the same time,the awareness rate of the free policy for TB cases and treatment principle was 52.17％ and 9.42％ respectively.Conclusion We should pay attention to the nurse education and improve their awareness rate of TB knowledge.The teachers should take more measures to nursing teaching and ensure the safety of nursing practice,improve the quality of teaching.
