Pentafluoro-2-(trimethylsiloxy)propene: synthesis and reactions

Abstract The title compound 1 can be obtained in two steps using a new method. Dialkylchlorophosphites and 1 react to give 2,2-difluoro-1-(trifluoromethyl)-vinylphosphites 2 , wich may be oxidized by activated ketones. Hydrolysis of 1 furnishes pure pentafluoro-propene-2-ol 3 in a straightforward reaction. The reactivity of pentafluoro-2-(toluene-4-sulfoxyl)propene 4 and 1 towards silylated phosphites is compared.
